Where We Stayed: Columbus, OH

I've fallen behind with work but still wanted to wrap up this trip.

We had an excellent stay at the Hampton Inn Columbus/University Area for one night. The room was comfortable, and the hotel is centrally located, about a mile from the Ohio State campus.

Breakfast: I did not spot any high chairs in the breakfast room. That said, the full breakfast was good and included sausage, scrambled eggs, and French toast in addition to continental items. My only complaint was that the apples were wrapped in plastic. This is completely unnecessary, especially at a time when so many businesses and consumers are trying to reduce their use of plastics.

I mentioned the plastic-wrapped apples in the survey that Hampton sent me, and the manager wrote back to tell me that the apples are wrapped because of state health and safety regulations. Apparently the state of Ohio requires any food that is left out all day to be wrapped in plastic. The apples are left out all day, thus the plastic wrap. I understand that the hotel needs to comply with state regulations, but it still seems ridiculous to wrap apples. They'd be better off if they just didn't leave the apples out.

Bathroom: Room 718 has only a shower, not a tub, which may not work well for young kids.

Pool: yes, indoor

Thanks for reading! I'll be writing up future trips on this blog, but still am wrapping up our summer trip on my previous blog.
